Tesla, the well known electric vehicle company owned by Elon Musk, will deliver its two first electric container ships in August destined to Belgium and The Netherlands. They will be powered by batteries that are able to be charged onshore by the carbon-free energy provider Eneco. The power supply will last to up to 15 hours of energy.
The ships have been designed to operate without crew, however, initially there will be personnel to be able to foresee any situation when transporting goods.
This will mark the beginning of the transformation of the maritim industry towards sustainable ships with zero emissions and powered by artificial intelligence.
